In addition to circus and national history, there is coverage of events in the beautiful hill country of southeastern Ohio where much of this story takes place. Two traveling circues once wintered in this area, and it was also home to a girl who became a sideshow attraction, then a movie actress. Historical events are not the only thrust of this novel. The reader is given an indepth look at what is involved in becoming a successful clown not only the skills but what must come from within. a number of clown acts and bits are brought to life. Rounding out the story is a healthy dose of philosophy and what it takes to live life to its fullest. About the Author Former magazine and book editor, Jack R. Cox, has always had a passion for writing. That enthusiasm, coupled with abiding interests in puppetry, clowning and circus history, were just the right ingredients for the creation of this story. For years, this author, his wife Shirley, and their two children presented marionette shows, and it was only natural that this avocation would lead them to the clown troupe of a community circus in Redlands, California where they lived at the time. Eventually, the senior Coxes returned to their native Ohio, settling in the beautiful hill country of the southeastern part of the state. When they discovered that nearby Nelsonville had a circus heritage, the plot for this novel evolved. Retired now, Jack, Shirley and their fourfooted friends live contentedly in a wooded hollow near Nelsonville.
