Eine dominierende Machtposition innerhalb dieser Gesellschaftsstrukturen nehmen dabei Weie Menschen ein, deren Whiteness einen gewaltvollen Einfluss auf das Leben NichtWeier Menschen hat. Die Untersuchung dieser Hegemonie Weier Dominanz und den daraus resultierenden Privilegien der Weien Bevlkerungsgruppe ist das Hauptanliegen der sogenannten 'Critical Whiteness Studies'. Das Vorherrschen Weier Allmacht zeigt sich auch immer wieder in medialen Erzeugnissen, in denen Whiteness oftmals reproduziert und nur selten kritisch reflektiert wird. Medienkulturelle Produkte tragen zur Identittsbildung bei und formen die Vorstellungen des Einzelnen von Individualitt, seine Auffassungen von Mnnlichkeit und Weiblichkeit, von Klasse, Ethnizitt, "Rasse", Nationalitt und Sexualitt. Medien bieten Symbole und Mythen an, durch die Individuen sich selbst in den sie umgebenden Kulturkreis einordnen knnen. Im Extremfall wird das wirkliche Leben durch die Medienrealitt abgelst und das eigene Denken und Handeln mageblich durch sie beeinflusst. Hieraus leitet sich die These ab, dass Medien mittels ihrer emotionalen Ansprache in den Meinungsbildungsprozess eingreifen und eine groe Wirkungsmacht auf den einzelnen Menschen haben knnen. In der vorliegenden Arbeit soll der Frage nachgegangen werden, inwiefern die beiden Medien Literatur und Film von einer dominanten Weien Sichtweise geprgt sind. Durch ihre besondere Eigenschaft der Unsichtbarkeit ist es notwendig, Whiteness als ein Konstrukt auch im medialen Kontext sichtbar zu machen und ihre Reproduktion aufzudecken.
