Die Frage, die der Leviathan beantworten will, ist diejenige nach der politischen Struktur, die fr ein friedliches Zusammenleben der Menschen unerllich ist. Fr Thomas Hobbes entsteht diese aus der Unterwerfung der Menschen unter einen absoluten Souvern, um dem Naturzustand des Kriegs aller gegen alle zu entgehen.Eine der Fragen, die der Leviathan dagegen aufwirft, ist die nach einem mglichen Recht auf Widerstand gegen diesen absoluten Souvern. Selbst wenn man voraussetzte, da Hobbes generell ein Selbstverteidigungsrecht einrumt, da der Mensch seinen Selbsterhaltungstrieb schlechthin nicht unterdrcken kann und sich zur Wehr setzen mu, wenn er und sei es von seiten des von ihm eingesetzten Herrschers bedroht wird, scheint der Leviathan dieses Recht nicht nher zu przisieren. Wie verhlt es sich beispielsweise mit dem Hobbesschen absoluten Herrscher? Ist er tatschlich so absolut, wie es vordergrndig scheint?
