Wind in the Blood is a detailed look at Mayan medicine on Mexicos Yucatan peninsula and its similarities to Chinese traditional medicine. It was originally published in Spanish as a manual for health workers in Mayan areas to bridge the gulf between Western medcal technique and Mayan medical knowledge. Mexican physicians Hernan Garcia, Antonio Sierra, and Hiberto Balam discovered that the similarities between Mayan medicine and traditional Chinese medcine were profound and helpful in their medical work.

The content is quite interesting, but I found some parts a little heavy to get through. It’s packed with info, which is good, but I could’ve used clearer explanations in some sections. Still worth a read if you're into this stuff.

Not What I Expected
I was hoping for more practical applications rather than theoretical concepts. It’s a good read, but I found it more academic than I anticipated. Would be better for someone already familiar with these topics.

A Fascinating Blend of Cultures
I've been diving into alternative medicine, and this book is a treasure! The mix of Mayan healing and Chinese medicine is fascinating. The insights on holistic approaches are incredibly thought-provoking.

Not for Beginners
I had a hard time following some of the concepts as a beginner in alternative medicine. It might help if there's a glossary or a summary at the end of each chapter to clarify the main points. Disappointing for me.

Beautifully Written, But Limited
The prose is beautiful, and the blending of cultures is intriguing, but I felt like it skimmed too much. I wanted deeper dives into both healing traditions. Still, it's a pleasant read overall.
