Fr die Zukunftsfhigkeit einer Organisation wird es immer wichtiger, hochqualifizierte und motivierte Mitarbeiter an sich zu binden. Ein mglicher Ansatzpunkt stellt hierbei die variable Vergtung dar. Das Konzept eines variablen Lohnanteiles ist nur dann mit einer Motivations und Leistungssteigerung bei den Empfngern und letztendlich mit einer Erfolgssteigerung bei der Organisation in Verbindung zu bringen, wenn die Grundvoraussetzungen dieses motivationalen Instrumentes bekannt sind und beachtet werden. Hierbei ist die Motivation nicht als Selbstzweck zu sehen, sondern als Mittel, die Beschftigten zu einer effizienteren Arbeitsleistung zu Gunsten des Unternehmens zu veranlassen. Daraus abgeleitet stellt sich die Frage, ob und inwieweit ein Mitarbeiter durch eine variable Vergtung motiviert wird. Verschiedene Motivationstheorien bekannter Wissenschaftler zeigen, aus welchen Beweggrnden heraus, eine variable Vergtungskomponente die Motivation der Mitarbeiter frdert. Hierbei fhrt die Fragestellung auch in den Wissensstand, welche Handlungsveranlassung zu einer erhhten Motivation fhrt. Zielfhrend hierzu werden in weiteren Kapiteln die theoretischen Grundlagen der Begrifflichkeiten variable Vergtung" (Kap. 2) und Motivation" (Kap. 3.1) gelegt, um einheitliche Fachtermini zu deklarieren.
