Schon Klassiker wie beispielsweise Max Weber, Joseph Schumpeter, Werner Sombart oder auch Karl Marx haben in ihren Gesellschaftsanalysen mit dem Konzept der Wissensgesellschaft gearbeitet, wobei die Betonung vordergrndig auf die Innovationsdynamik charismatischer Unternehmer und die Wissensbasierung brokratischer Organisationen gelegt wurde. Die Theorie von Nico Stehr weist jedoch ber diese Erklrungen hinaus und legt u. a. Wert auf die neu entstehende konomische Struktur und deren gesellschaftliche Grundlagen. Ich werde mich in den folgenden Ausfhrungen mit der Problematik des Begriffs der Wissensgesellschaft befassen und der Frage nachgehen, ob wir uns, wie hufig behauptet, in einer solchen befinden, oder ob diese erst ihre Schatten vorauswirft und wir erst auf dem Weg in eine Wissensgesellschaft sind, so wie es Helmut Wilke und Christoph Hubig einst propagierten (vgl. Jger 2002, S. 1). Schlielich fordert der globalisierte Wettbewerb die systematische Aufbereitung von Wissen ber Wissen", so dass kein Weg daran vorbeifhrt, die Ressource Wissen in der Organisation zu entwickeln und gezielt einzusetzen, um Problemlsungen und Zielsetzungen zu verbessern bzw. zu optimieren. Bevor ich jedoch mit meiner Diskussion beginnen kann, werde ich zunchst die Begriffe Wissen bzw. Wissensgesellschaft, so wie sie Nico Stehr verwendet, definieren.
