Set in the border states of Kansas and Missouri, Woe to Live On explores the nature of lawlessness and violence, friendship and loyalty, through the eyes of young recruit Jake Roedel. Where he and his fellow First Kansas Irregulars go, no one is safe, no one can be neutral. Roedel grows up fast, experiencing a brutal parody of war without standards or mercy. But as friends fall and families flee, he questions his loyalties and becomes an outsider even to those who have become outlaws.

This novel has stuck with me long after I finished it. The characters are well-developed, and the themes are relevant even today. The used condition didn’t bother me at all – I just wanted the story!

A real page-turner!
I picked up 'To Live On' in used condition, and it came in better shape than I expected. The story is beautifully written, and I love how it explores complex themes. Definitely a great addition to my bookshelf!

Good read, minor wear
The book arrived with a few creases on the cover, but thankfully the pages were intact and legible. It’s an engaging story, though some parts felt a bit slow. Still worth it for the price!

Loved the story, not the condition
I was really excited to read 'To Live On', but the condition was disappointing. There were several dog-eared pages and the spine was cracked. The story itself is great, but I wish the copy was better cared for.

Arrived late and scratched
I love the book, but it took longer to arrive than I expected. When it did come, it had scratches on the cover which was a letdown. Just wanted a clean copy, but the story makes up for it somewhat.
