This fivescene chancel drama tells the story of Jesus' arrest, crucifixion, and resurrection through the eyes of the women who knew Jesus and were influenced by his life and death. From the Upper Room through Golgotha and the Empty Tomb, we hear the passionate feelings the Master stirred in these women who are much like us. The scenes can be presented separately for midweek services or in a single 90minute performance. (Performance time for each individual scene is approximately1520 minutes.) Since no setting is necessary and costumes and props are simple, this play is easy to stage for congregations of all sizes. There are roles for nine women, but for smaller groups, some performers could portray more than one role. There are also small roles for four men.Biblical women featured are:* Mary (mother of Jesus)* Mary Magdalene* Mary (mother of James and Joseph)* Salome (mother of James and John)* Mary (mother of Mark)* Mary (sister of Martha)* Martha* Claudia (Pilate's wife)* Julia (Claudia's maid)Marguerite D. Brown was a native of New York who led an active life in the Lutheran church, serving in a variety of lay leadership roles in numerous congregations. Her children's stories appeared in several publications, and she wrote and directed plays for church programs and other groups.
