These four remarkable women, core members of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, left a lasting imprint on the politics, literature, and theater of 19thcentury Europe. Less wellknown than the famous men in their lives, including Yeats and Shaw, their stories are now told.

I picked up 'Women of the Golden Dawn' because I'm intrigued by the occult and its history. Maud Gonne and the other women featured bring such a unique perspective to the Golden Dawn movement. The book dives deep into their lives and contributions, making it a thoughtful read for anyone interested in mysticism and women's roles in it. A must-read for sure!

Not What I Expected
I bought this thinking it would focus more on the rituals and practices of the Golden Dawn, but it leans heavily on biographies. I guess I missed that in the description. The writing is fine, but I was hoping for more practical information. Disappointed to say the least.

Good Content, Slightly Dense at Times
The book has some really compelling stories about figures like Moina Bergson and Annie Horniman, but I found a few sections a bit dense. It’s packed with information, which can be overwhelming if you're not familiar with the context. Still, it gave me a lot to think about and I appreciate the historical insights!
