He is now considered to be one of the Woodstock Generation's most important photographers. Landy's unforgettable images have graced the covers of magazines from Rolling Stone and The Saturday Evening Post to Newsweek and Life, as well as some of the music world's most treasured albums. His photograph of a genial Bob Dylan on the Nashville Skyline album is one of the most recognizable images of the folk singer ever recorded.Woodstock Dream offers a generous sampling of Landy's photos from the event and of the world that made it happen. From aerial shots of the massive, muddy crowd at Yasgur's Farm to upclose portraits of Joplin, Baez, and Havens relaxing between sets, Landy's images bring back an era that unabashedly celebrated youth and individuality, freedom and rebellion. Landy brought his camera behind the curtains of the sixties' historymaking venues, such as the Fillmore East and the Newport Folk festival. He captured Rock and Roll royalty the Beatles, the Doors, the Stonesand the glitterati and the literati from Elizabeth Taylor and Lauren Bacall to Allen Ginsberg and Norman Mailer. More than just a collection of photos from an earthshaking event, Woodstock Dream recalls the sense of spirit and commitment that swept over an entire generation, at the same time it evokes the vibrant creative energy and incredible playfulness that make the sixties seem more dreamlike than ever.
