Kennedy has been teaching at the postsecondary level in Ottawa, Montreal, Regina and Saskatoon since 1972. He has a doctorate in Canadian literature and extensive experience as a freelance sports writer, including ten years writing a weekly college sports column for the Saskatoon StarPhoenix. He has combined his knowledge and experience with an ongoing interest in hockey to create a unique class entitled 'Reading Culture: Hockey in Canadian Literature,' which he teaches at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. The author of numerous newspaper and journal articles that range in subject from Canadian fiction to Inuit literature to electric streetcar heritage to hockey, Kennedy currently teaches literature at the University of Saskatchewan and Canadian literature and communication arts at the Kelsey Campus of the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology.
