Die Belastungen und der Stress im Beruf nehmen zu. Fr mehr Zeit im Privatleben wrden 80 % der Befragten auf Aufstiegschancen verzichten, und 87 % ziehen berlegungen zur WLB mit in ihre Entscheidung bei der Suche nach einem geeigneten Arbeitgeber mit ein. Die hier dargelegten Zahlen veranschaulichen die groe Relevanz einer ausgeglichenen WLB sowohl fr den Arbeitgeber als auch fr den Beschftigten. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, aufzuzeigen, inwiefern das Konzept der WLB dazu beitrgt, dass ein Unternehmen effizient ist. Der Begriff Effizienz wird dabei, anders als im Sprachgebrauch, nach der Definition von Chester I. Barnard verwendet. Neben motivationstheoretischen Grundlagen erlutert Kapitel 2 einige grundlegende Definitionen, die fr das weitere Verstndnis erforderlich sind. Anschlieend wird die AnreizBeitragGleichgewichtstheorie von Chester I. Barnard vorgestellt. Kapitel 3 stellt das Konzept der WLB vor. Der Begriff wird zunchst definiert, um dann auf wesentliche Manahmen und Instrumente, sowie auf Anforderungen einer Fhrungskraft, nher einzugehen. Auf den beiden vorangegangenen Kapiteln aufbauend wird in Kapitel 4 die Auswirkung von WLB auf die Effizienz eines Unternehmens untersucht. Kapitel 5 zeigt WLBManahmen am Beispiel der Siemens AG auf. Kapitel 6 fasst die durch diese Arbeit gewonnenen Erkenntnisse zusammen, und schliesst mit einem Ausblick ab.
