Worlds of Hurt presents a coherent rendering of the relationships between individual trauma and cultural interpretation, using as its focus the Holocaust, the Vietnam War, and the phenomenon of sexualized violence against women. Survivors of these traumas constitute themselves as unique communities and bear witness to their traumatic experiences both privately and publicly. The survivors themselves write a literature of traumaborn of the need to tell and retell the story of the traumatic experience, to make it real to the victim, the community and to the larger pyblic.

This book, part of the Cambridge series, is an essential read if you're diving into American literature. It provides a comprehensive look at themes and styles that influenced the culture. Great for my thesis research!

Interesting but a bit dry
While I appreciate the depth of the content in this series, I found some parts of 'Worlds of Hurt' to be a bit dry. It's packed with knowledge, but it doesn't always engage me as much as I'd hoped. Still, it's worthwhile for anyone studying American literature.

Packaging was damaged, but content is solid
I received my copy of 'Cambridge Studies in American Literature' with a dented corner, which was disappointing. However, the content is fantastic and really insightful. Just wish the packaging had been better.
