Ausgehend von der Frage, ob die Beliebtheit von Detektivgeschichten bei Kindern im Zusammenhang mit Aspekten der Intelligenzentwicklung zu sehen ist, werden der detektivische Erzhltypus und die Konstruktionsprinzipien der darin enthaltenen Denkaufgaben einer formalen Analyse unterzogen. Im empirischen Teil der Arbeit werden eine umfangreiche Erkundungsstudie sowie weiterfhrende Experimente vorgestellt, in denen Kinder im Alter von 6 bis 14 Jahren und Erwachsene einfache detektivische Denksportaufgaben lsen sollten. Die vielversprechenden Ergebnisse werden mit neueren entwicklungspsychologischen Befunden u.a. zum Entdecken von Diskursanomalien verglichen und aus verschiedenen theoretischen Perspektiven diskutiert.
