So vertritt Rescher die These, 'Leibniz himself is his own best commentator', weil his own discussions explain the ideas treated in the Monadology'. In diesem Kontext gilt die Monadologie ebenfalls hufig als nur deswegen geschrieben, um noch vor dem Ableben einen berblick ber das eigene philosophische System zu geben. Wilson argumentiert hingegen fr eine gegenteilige Position, nach welcher die Monaden deutlich von den individuellen Substanzen und den krperlichen Substanzen vorausgegangener Schriften zu unterscheiden sei. Einen Beitrag zu dieser Frage zu leisten, ist die Motivation dieser Untersuchung. Hierzu wird mit dem Discours de mtaphysique diejenige Schrift mit der Monadologie verglichen, die am hufigsten zur Beantwortung der hnlichkeitsfrage herangezogen wird. Bevor wir uns dem Vergleich zuwenden, der in eine interpretative Analyse des Discours eingebettet sein wird, erscheint es sinnvoll, zunchst die Thesen der Monadologie zusammenzufassen. Die Zusammenfassung der Thesen beruht auf einer grundlegenden Analyse, die eigens zum Zwecke dieser Untersuchung angefertigt wurde. In einem spteren Teil soll dann ein abschlieendes Urteil zur (Dis)Kontinuittsfrage abgegeben werden knnen.
