Gegenstand dieser Untersuchung sind kontinuierliche raumzeitliche Prozesse, die nicht vernachlssigbare stochastische Komponenten aufweisen. Es wird dargelegt, da die valide flchenhafte Schtzung solcher Prozesse aufgrund diskreter Messungen ein komplexes Problem des Zusamrnenwirkens der einzelnen Arbeitsschritte des Schtzver fahrens und der Prozeeigenschaften darstellt. Zur Schtzung eines stochastischen Prozesses sind Informationen ber seine Wahr scheinlichkeitsstruktur notwendig. Die Verteilungsfunktion ist im allgemeinen nicht direkt zugnglich. Deshalb erfolgt eine Beschrnkung auf die Analyse der Momente zweiter Ordnung, die man unter gewissen Annahmen ber die Stationaritt eines Prozesses aus einer Prozerealistion ableiten kann. Es gibt verschiedene Verfahren, die in dieser Weise vorgehen. Ein Vergleich zeigt, da dem geostatistischen Ansatz zur Schtzung kontinuierlicher rumlicher stochastischer Prozesse der Vorzug zu geben ist. Kriging ist in dem Sinne optimal, als es der beste lineare erwartungtreue Schtzer ist. Es ist ein lokales Schtzverfahren mit gewichteter rumlicher Mittelwertbildung, das auch eine Angabe ber den Schtzfehler macht. Verschiedene Krigingverfahren und ihre Eigenschaften werden diskutiert. Ein wesentlicher Vorteil des Verfahrens besteht darin, da die Gewichtung im Schtzvorgang ber das Variogramm, aufgrund der konkreten Prozerealisation, vorgenommen wird. Der Bestimmung eines validen Variogramms kommt eine zentrale Bedeutung im Schtzvorgang zu. Potentielle Fehlerquellen und die Mglichkeiten ihrer Vermeidung werden ausfhlich dargestellt. Besondere Aufmerksamkeit ist bei einer zu geringen statistischen Absicherung durch zu wenig Mepunkte, bei nicht normalverteilten Mewerten, bei Ausreiern und Mefehlern sowie bei Nichtstationaritt geboten. Es werden verschiedene Mglichkeiten fr die Behandlung nichtstationrer Prozesse aufgezeigt. Letztlich mu aber das Problem der Schtzung nichtstationrer Prozesse als nicht voll befriedigend gelst betrachtet werden.
